Missouri House members use new tactic to attack Grain Belt Express project.

The newly convened House of Representatives have taken a different approach to prevent Invenergy from utilizing admin domain powers for its Grain Belt Express Project.  The House had passed bill number 2033, which had been sent to the Senate prior to the “COVID-19 break” in the session.  Since HB 2033 likely will not reach the Senate floor, the House has amended a previously passed Senate Bill (SB618) to include the same language contained in HB 2033. Given the shortened session, and the COVID-19 related priorities, it is questionable whether the original House bill or the amended Senate bill will reach the Senate floor before the session ends on May 15.

The bill is on its way to a full vote in the state House, where it’s expected to pass, but it faces longer odds in the Senate.
