Shelby County Commissioners vote unanimously to table Ameren’s request for assent to build the Mark Twain Transmission Project

The Shelby County, Missouri, Commission voted to delay consideration of Ameren/ATXI’s request for assent to construct the Mark Twain Transmission Project until resolution of an appeal from the Missouri Public Service Commission orderthat conditionally approved the Project. Pursuant to Missouri statute, all utilities (such as Ameren) must obtain assent from counties prior to crossing county roads with their projects. Earlier this year, the Missouri Public Service Commission approved the Mark Twain Transmission Project, but placed conditions on the approval that Ameren/ATX I must obtain the assent from the five counties through which the Project would pass. Shelby County was the first county where Ameren made a formal request for assent. At the time of their announcement, the Shelby County Commission publicly requested that Ameren not bring legal action against the County until such time as there is a formal determination on the request for assent.
